Brian Turner ’s ongoing love affair with his New Zealand home lies at the heart of his poetry. Turner is one of New Zealand’s leading poets and one ofits most significant writers on landscape and environmentalism. His first poetry collection, Ladders of Rain, won the Common wealth Poetry Prize, and his sixth, Beyond, won the new Zealand Book Award for Poetry. He was New Zealand’s Poet Laureate from 2003 to 2005. His other collections are Ancestors, Bones, and All That Blue Can Be.
