Fred W. Allendorf is Regents Professor of Biology at the University ofMontana and Professorial Research Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has published over two hundred articles on evolution, population genetics, and conservation. He coauthored his most recent book, Conservation and the Genetics of Populations (2007), with Gordon Luikart. Allendorf has served as president of the American Genetic Association and director of the Population Biology Program of the National Science Foundation.
