Cindy Deacon Williams is director of aquatic science for the National Center for Conservation Science and Policy. She has worked on water policy and fisheries conservation for the California Legislature, the U.S. Forest Service, and several nonprofit organizations. Her more recent efforts involve understanding how society should deal with climate change.
Jack E. Williams is a senior scientist for Trout Unlimited. He received his PhD from Oregon State University. He has worked as an endangered species biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as science adviser to the director of the Bureau of Land Management, and as a forest supervisor for the U.S. Forest Service. He has authored or coauthored several books on conservation, including From Conquest to Conservation: Our Public Lands Legacy (2003).
